In this week’s FridayFocus we look at body weight exercises that you can do in your living room!
It’s important to remember that fitness can be done anywhere, anytime, with no equipment whatsoever. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the best exercises you can do with nothing more than your own body weight!
The exercises cover your chest, shoulders, back, arms, abs and legs so that no part of your body is left untrained.
Our first set of movements target your chest:
Exercises targeted at your arms have a tendency to inadvertently work your larger muscles such as your back as well, and vice versa. This is why the exercises you see here will be similar to those which exercise your arms.
Shoulders:
Bodyweight exercises that work your shoulders are more difficult to come by, and most require a certain level of training experience. Although these exercises sometimes require equipment, they can all be done without. For example, the handstand shoulder press can be performed with a single book under each hand, instead of a bench.
Back:
Much like your shoulders, back exercises which use just your body weight can be hard to come by. However, these three will give you a great foundation to build on in the gym.
Arms:
- Close grip push ups
- Chin ups
- Underhand Inverted Rows
- Tricep extensions
- Tricep dips
- Wide push ups
- Wide planks
These exercises help athletes, actors, bodybuilders and fitness fanatics get their dream arms around the world, and you don’t need a single piece of equipment (except maybe a bench and/or a horizontal bar).
Abs:
Every one of these exercises will develop your core muscles, and if done correctly and consistently can lead to great results!
Legs:
Too often you see photos of people who have built an amazing upper body, adding muscles mass like there’s no tomorrow, but forgetting to give their legs the same treatment. We think it’s very important not to neglect your legs, and these exercises can help you shred them too!
People put lots of focus on going to the gym and using expensive equipment, however it’s important to remember that, often, the only thing you need to workout is yourself!
