In this week’s WednesdayWorkout blog we look at how Henry Cavill got in the shape of his life for his role as Superman in Justice League!
Cavill’s routine consisted heavily of functional bodyweight exercises, which gave him the ability to perform the acrobatic and demanding stunts required during filming of the new superhero film, Justice League.
Now onto Cavill’s routine:
The first set of exercises
- Rower
- Clean and Jerk
- Wall Ball
- Weighted Burpee
This set of exercises focuses heavily on improving your cardiovascular health and anaerobic endurance, whilst also building strength and muscle mass. All of the exercises make for a great full body workout.
The second set of exercises are:
- Push Press
- Sumo Deadlift
- Handstand Hold
- Wall Walk Up
- Ring Dip
This set of exercises works on improving your overall strength, particularly your upper body. The sumo deadlift is a compound movement, meaning that it works almost all of your muscle groups at once.
The third set of exercises is:
- Ring Dip
- Chinup
- Toes to Bar
- 1,000 Meter Shuttle Run
- Kettlebell Snatch
This set of exercises work your hamstrings, quads, back and shoulders as well as your core and arms. The 1,000 metre shuttle run also provides an intense cardiovascular workout.
The fourth and final set of exercises is:
- Power Clean
- Bar Hop
- Burpee Box Jump
- 1,000 Metre Row
The final set of exercises provide an extremely intense cardio workout that will raise the heartrate. The power clean works lots of different muscles at once and is an Olympic weightlifting movement, whereas the row and burpees are effective HIIT movements.
Henry Cavill is in great shape and this routine helped him to get there, however his hard work and determination is what truly got him the results!
